Food & Lifestyle
Are you passionate about nutrition, sports, and lifestyle?
Healthy nutrition is the central theme in our lessons. You will learn what nutrients are in food and how to coach people to make lasting changes to their eating and exercise habits. Throughout the program, you will be actively involved in project-based work for a large part of the week. Every week, you will get to work in the cooking classroom, exercise, and take relaxation practice classes. In addition, you will work on real-life business issues and, of course, complete various internships.

Programme structure
A healthy lifestyle is the central theme in our lessons. We teach based on various themes, such as balanced living for adults, children, elderly care, athletes, and people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Throughout all three years of the programme, you will learn about nutrition, exercise and lifestyle factors. You will also learn how to provide nutritional advice to specific target groups, about innovations in the field of nutrition and food design. You will learn how to coach, guide and motivate people to make lasting changes to their eating and exercise habits.
Theoretical knowledge is important, but throughout the programme, you will spend a large part of the week actively working on projects. Each module includes practical lessons, such as practical cooking, relaxation classes and sports. The latter takes place once a week for three hours. These include padel, boot camp, ice skating, ball sports, and various sports in the gym. We consider these practical lessons in nutrition, relaxation, and sports to be very important. By experiencing for yourself what they do for your body and mind, you will be better able to advise others later in your work. You will also complete various internships.

After graduation
After obtaining their MBO diploma, many of our students continue their studies at HBO level. This programme is compatible with many different HBO programmes. The most closely related to this MBO programme are Nutrition & Dietetics, Food Technology or Food & Lifestyle. Other options include programmes in the field of Physiotherapy or the Sports Academy. In addition, you could work as a Lifestyle Advisor, for example. You could also work as an independent entrepreneur or nutritionist on projects run by the municipality, educational institutions, or healthcare institutions. Or you could coach people toward a healthy lifestyle and provide information about this.
"What I liked most about studying at MBO Westland was that they let you be yourself and didn’t treat you like a number. The teachers know you personally, and you quickly feel at ease. I also really liked the fact that you do internships from the first year onwards." Lotje de Lijster, Alumna Food & Lifestyle level 4
